The Impact of Fenestration on the Building Envelope: CHBA Webinar
ENERQUALITY • Jan 08, 2017

Increasing energy performance requirements in building codes means rethinking how we build envelopes.
To help with that, on January 18th, 2017, Canadian Home Builders’ Association is offering the “Impact of Fenestration on the Building Envelope: A Window of Opportunity” webinar.
The webinar, delivered by Lisa Lisa Bergeron, of JELD-WEN of Canada, will show you how
– selecting the right glass package can influence your cooling loads,
– the window-to-wall ratio impacts the overall effective R value of your wall, and
– putting in better windows reduces initial costs and operational costs.
A more holistic approach to the building envelope may be the most cost effective way to deliver high performance homes as well as increase comfort for the occupants. Understanding the energy performance numbers for windows and how they influence the size of the mechanical systems is key to providing cost efficient solutions to improving the building envelope.
