Since 1982, the R-2000 standard has led the way in residential energy efficiency. R-2000 homes are built to be 50% more energy efficient than the building code.
R-2000 often focuses on environmental features that reduce greenhouse gases, promote water conservation, and make better use of our natural resources.
The technical requirements of the R-2000 standard include measures for:
- Efficient energy use
- Improved indoor air quality
- Enhanced environmental responsibility in the construction and operation of a home
The requirements are intended to give the builder flexibility in the selection of construction techniques, building products, mechanical equipment, lighting, and appliances.
